Sabancı University draws attention to its efforts to protect and efficiently use water resources in line with its sustainability vision, as part of World Water Day. Sabancı University treats water management across the campus not just as an environmental policy, but as a measurable, monitorable, and continuously improvable strategic area.

Sabancı University Sustainability Manager Pelin Nur Karaçal expressed the university's approach to water management as follows: “Our vision of creating and developing a sustainable future together is not just a statement; it is a strategic commitment to protecting every drop of water on our campus.” Supporting this approach with concrete practices, Sabancı University conducts comprehensive studies to protect every drop of water on campus. In this context, infrastructure and operational improvements aimed at reducing water consumption, increasing water efficiency, and responsible management of natural resources are systematically continued.
Data-Driven and Transparent Approach to Water Management
The university regularly monitors water usage in campus operations, develops efficiency-oriented practices, and continuously improves its infrastructure. These studies position water management not only as an area of conservation, but also as one of the fundamental components of institutional sustainability.
With the ISO 14046 Water Footprint Verification processes initiated for the 2024–2025 academic year, Sabancı University aims to measure and manage its environmental impact according to international standards. By implementing water footprint calculation and reporting processes, water usage is evaluated within a measurable, auditable, and transparent system.
Responsibility for Future Generations
This approach demonstrates that the university implements its sustainability goals not only as a vision, but also with a management understanding supported by data-driven, accountable, and concrete steps. Sabancı University continues its work with the awareness that every right step taken today will be decisive in protecting the water resources of the future.
In a statement made within the scope of World Water Day, Sabancı University Sustainability Manager Pelin Nur Karaçal invited all stakeholders to take shared responsibility for protecting water resources and conscious consumption while drawing attention to the critical importance of water for the continuity of life and the protection of ecosystems.
Sabancı University aims to create an exemplary model beyond reducing its environmental impact with the steps it has taken in water management in line with its sustainable campus goals. World Water Day is seen as an important opportunity to emphasize this commitment and shared vision for the future once again.
